Friends of Murphy (FOM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds to support the students and staff of John B. Murphy Elementary School.

  • Enrich Murphy School’s arts partnerships and programming

  • Bolster school spirit through community connections

  • Fund physical improvement projects at Murphy School

Meetings

The last Monday of every month at HONNING, 3932 N. Elston Ave

Past Projects

  • Launched the “We Believe in Murphy School” lawn sign campaign

  • Installed a traverse wall, all new custom wall padding, and refinish the floor in the Murphy gym

  • Supplied walk-a-thon t-shirts for every student, staff member, and volunteer

  • Purchased sound and lighting equipment and upgrades in the auditorium

  • Provided a comprehensive theater program for any interested 3rd – 8th grade students free of charge

  • Provided food and supplies to community members

  • Installed a message board in front of the school

  • Installed new planters in front of the school

  • Created an edible garden

  • Created an outdoor learning space with seating
